Dear Parents and Friends,
Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! We are pleased to invite you to join the dedicated group of school volunteers who contribute so much of their time and talent to enrich our school and PTO programs. We encourage parents, grandparents, friends and neighbors to join us by volunteering for various activities in our school.
The Anne Arundel County Board of Education requires ALL VOLUNTEERS to attend the school’s volunteer orientation and view the sexual harassment and child abuse video before working with the children. Thank you for understanding that this is a requirement from the county, not our school, as a way of protecting our children and our volunteers.

AACPS requires that any volunteer or chaperone who will be working with children have a background check. Information about the county policy and the link for completing the background check can be found at:
In addition, there may be some field trips or activities that require a more extensive fingerprint- supported background check that requires an appointment and a fee. You will be notified by the school if that is necessary.

September 8th, 2015, (TONIGHT!) is Back to School night. It starts at 6:30pm with two sessions to give you the opportunity to meet with your child(s) teachers. Also, if anyone needs to watch the new volunteer sexual harassment video, it will be running in the media center with Mrs. Bachman.
Take advantage of this opportunity to see the world your child inhabits every day and meet the people in charge. It’s one of the best ways to begin to build that all-important home-school connection.
We thought about renaming the Holiday Shop this year to The Kilpatrick’s Holiday Shop. Why? I did a quick internet search and found that Heather has been doing the shop since 2007.
“Holiday Secret Shop (Chair: Heather Kilpatrick) Fundraiser on behalf of Destination Imagination. Help with the fun child-oriented event scheduled for early December. Volunteers needed to shop for sale items and help on the day of event. This was a very popular and exciting evening for the kids last year. Please help make this an annual event.”
Heather loves doing this event and it shows. It’s a GREAT and inexpensive way for your children to pick up a little something for all of us parents; for our hard work and efforts, for our love, and for buying them their new iPads.

Times are from 4-7pm in the Media Center. Heather hopes to see you all there. (Oh, and so does the rest of the PTO too!)
